We don't disappear once the fireplace is installed.
Fireplaces need service. Parts wear out. Remotes get lost. Something that worked perfectly last winter may decide to be difficult the first cold night of the year.
That's why service has always been an important part of what we do.
When you call Fairview, you're calling the same company that helped you with the fireplace in the first place. We take that relationship seriously. You can see it in our Google reviews too!
And yes... September is a very good time to make sure yours is ready for fall.
Fireplace featured here: Heat N Glo Stellar
A new home in Dutchess County. A fireplace update in Westchester. A commercial project in Beacon. An outdoor fireplace. A custom Cast Stone surround made right here in Poughkeepsie.
They're all very different jobs.
That's why we work with so many different fireplace manufacturers and styles in the first place. There isn't one fireplace that's right for every project, and we'd rather have more options when we're sitting down with your plans.
Gas, wood, electric, linear, traditional, see-through, masonry, outdoor... bring us the project. We'll help you figure out the fireplace.
Sometimes 36 or 42 inches just isn't the right answer.
A large great room, an 18-foot ceiling or a long open wall can call for a fireplace with completely different proportions.
That's where DaVinci fireplaces come into the conversation. They're built to custom lengths and configurations, giving architects and designers a lot more freedom with the room around them.
Big room? Let's give the fireplace enough presence to belong there.
Fireplaces are one of those things you really should see in person.
A 42" opening can sound plenty big until you stand in front of it. A linear flame looks different in person than it does on a screen. And the difference between logs, glass, stone and other media is much easier to appreciate when the fire is actually burning.
That's why we have a showroom.
Come see them, turn them on and compare. We're right here in Poughkeepsie.
We see a lot of these.
The fireplace itself may be perfectly usable, but decades of dark brick and brass can make the entire room feel dated.
You don't have to tear everything apart to change that.
An updated fireplace paired with a custom Fairview Cast Stone surround can completely change the room while keeping the fireplace exactly where it has always belonged.
Our Cast Stone surrounds are made by hand right here in Poughkeepsie and built specifically for each project.
A lot happens inside a fireplace wall before you ever get to the pretty part.
Framing, venting, electrical, lighting, finish materials... and yes, that TV everyone wants to put above it.
Builders, bring us into the conversation early. We'll help make sure what's on the plans actually works once everyone gets to the jobsite.

A fireplace can completely shift the feel of a room.
Lighter tones tend to open a space up and keep things soft and understated.
Mid-tones feel balanced and timeless.
Darker finishes create contrast and make the fireplace a true focal point.
Same function. Completely different atmosphere.
This is where material and finish start to shape the entire room around it.
Which direction would you go?
Our lines of Fairview Cast Stone come with a wide array of finishes.
We capture that same movement and depth as natural marble in a material that's consistent, durable, and made specifically for fireplaces.
That's how Marbled Cast Stone™ came to be.
Each finish is inspired by natural stone from around the world, with subtle veining and layered color that gives every surround a richer look at a fraction of the price.

People matter more. Thank you to our entire team here at Fairview Hearthside!
One of the biggest decisions isn't which fireplace to choose.
It's how big it should be.
A fireplace that's too small can get lost on a large wall. Too large, and it takes over the room. Finding the right balance is part of the design process.
That's where products like the Heatilator Constitution series work well. They offer generous viewing areas while fitting comfortably into a wide range of floor plans.
Bring us in early. It's a conversation worth having.
One decision affects a surprising number of trades.
The fireplace.
Framing, HVAC, electrical, finish carpentry, drywall, stone... everyone touches that wall.
Getting the fireplace figured out early makes the rest of the project go a whole lot smoother.
Let's get planning! Visit fairviewhearthside.com
Linear fireplaces have changed the way people design living rooms.
Fireplaces used to be centered on one wall with built-ins on either side. Today, it might stretch six or eight feet across a room, sit below a floating shelf, or divide two spaces entirely.
The fireplace isn't just filling a wall anymore. It's helping define it.
That's a reason designers continue specifying Flare fireplaces. Their flexibility opens the door to ideas that weren't possible just a few years ago.
Thinking about a project? We'd love to see what you're working on.
We've worked with enough designers to know the fireplace is rarely just about the fireplace.
It's about proportion.
The Camina Schmid fireplaces work especially well in projects where those details matter. The lines are clean enough to support the architecture rather than compete with it.
Stop by our showroom in Poughkeepsie to see the Camina Schmid in person!
Every builder has a schedule to keep.
The earlier the fireplace is selected, the easier it is to coordinate framing, venting, and the trades that follow.
We've been helping builders navigate those decisions for decades. Whether it's a Heatilator for a spec home or a fully custom DaVinci installation, the goal is always the same: make the process as smooth as the finished product.
We work with dozens of fireplaces. Learn more! Visit fairviewhearthside.com or stop by our showroom in Poughkeepsie.
A fireplace isn't a finish selection.
It affects framing, venting, clearances, sightlines, and often the way an entire wall is built.
The earlier it's part of the conversation, the more options everyone has.
That's one reason builders like working with the DaVinci fireplaces. Their flexibility opens up design possibilities before the framing crew ever gets started.
Every custom home has a wall that gets the most attention.
More often than not, it's the fireplace wall.
It's where proportions, materials, and even the placement of outlets, vents, and lighting can make a difference.
The Heat & Glo Primo is one of those fireplaces that gives designers a lot to work with, especially when the fireplace wall is meant to be the focal point of the home.

A see-through fireplace adds something special to both spaces it connects.
You get the warmth and view of the fire from either side, while still keeping each room feeling separate and comfortable. It’s a clean, modern feature that works especially well in open layouts.
This Heat & Glo Primo see-through fireplace brings that balance together perfectly.
You can change the entire feel of a room by changing the fireplace.
We see it all the time with older brick fireplaces. Heavy brass trim. Dark brick. A style that made sense years ago, but no longer fits the way the home is being used.
Cast stone completely shifts that feeling.
Cleaner lines, better proportions, softer texture. The fireplace still anchors the room, but now it feels quieter, more intentional, and far more connected to the rest of the space.
Paired with an updated fireplace, the transformation is hard to ignore.

An outdoor fireplace changes the way people use a backyard.
You stop heading inside so early. People linger a little longer. Even on cooler nights, the space still gets used.
The Isokern outdoor fireplaces have a weight and permanence to them that feels right outdoors. They look like they belong there.
Outdoor living spaces deserve just as much intention and beauty as the rooms inside your home.

This comes up in almost every project.
Can you mount a TV above a fireplace?
The answer depends on the fireplace, the heat output, and how the system is installed.
We’ve seen it done well, and we’ve seen it done in ways that cause problems later.
It’s one of those details that’s easy to overlook early on, but much harder to fix once everything is finished.
Not every space is built for a gas or wood fireplace.
We see that a lot in renovations, apartments, and rooms where venting just isn’t realistic.
That’s where electric fireplaces tend to make the most sense.
They don’t solve every problem, but in the right space, they are just perfect!
Check out this one by Simplifire. It’s easy to add this fireplace in almost any room!
Since 1984, we have worked on homes at just about every stage.
New construction. Full renovations. Projects where the fireplace was planned from the beginning, and others where it had to be worked into what was already there.
You start to notice patterns after a while.
The projects that feel the most natural in the end are almost always the ones where the fireplace was considered early.
We’re often brought into projects after the framing is already done. At that point, options are limited.
The venting has to work around what’s already there. The size gets dictated by the space that’s left. Sometimes the fireplace ends up being smaller or placed differently than originally imagined.
The projects that come together best usually start earlier. When the fireplace is part of the plan from the beginning, it's scaled properly, the venting runs cleanly, and the finished result feels like it belongs in the home instead of being worked into it.
In most cases, yes. Turning it off can save a small amount of gas and reduce unnecessary heat inside the home during warmer months.
That said, some homeowners choose to leave it on. A standing pilot can help keep moisture out of the firebox and venting system, especially in more humid environments.
We’ve seen both approaches work. It usually comes down to how the fireplace is set up and how the home handles humidity through the summer.
If you’re not sure what makes the most sense for your system, it’s worth taking a closer look before the season fully shifts.
“Do I need to service my fireplace in the spring?”
Most people wait until fall to think about their fireplace.
By then, schedules fill up quickly.
Spring is actually one of the better times to take care of maintenance. The system has just come through a full season of use, and any buildup or wear can be addressed before it sits idle.
It also means when the first cold night hits, everything is ready to go.
It’s not required, but it tends to make things easier later on.
The most important parts of a fireplace are often the ones you never see.
Framing, venting, clearances, and connections all happen behind the finished wall. Each detail has to be planned and executed precisely.
It’s the kind of work that doesn’t draw attention when it’s done right, but it’s exactly what ensures a fireplace performs safely and consistently for years.
Yes, this is our showroom in Poughkeepsie with a fireplace in progress. Just wait til you see what we are installing!

There’s a reason certain fireplace brands have been around for a long time.
Majestic is one of them.
They’ve built their reputation on reliability. Straightforward systems, consistent performance, and designs that work across a wide range of homes.
Not every project calls for something highly customized or design-forward. Sometimes the goal is a fireplace that fits the space, works the way it should, and continues to do so for years.
That’s where brands like this tend to make the most sense.
This is the Majestic Jasper Series.
There is something about a flame that changes the pace of a room.
The dance of the light within the room. People gathered a little closer. Conversations lasting a little longer.
Fireplaces have always played a special role, and even as designs evolve, that part hasn’t changed.
Some things in a home are simply timeless.
Electric fireplaces have come a long way from what people remember.
They’re often the solution when venting isn’t possible or when a project calls for flexibility in placement.
No gas lines. No venting. Just power.
What surprises most people is how much the flame presentation has improved. In the right setting, they can still create that same visual focal point in a room.
They’re not the right fit for every project, but in the right space, they solve problems other fireplaces can’t.
This is Heat & Glo's Inception Electric Fireplace with the most realistic flames on the market today.
Planning a summer build?
Gas offers effortless ambiance.
Wood creates a timeless experience.

Did you know? The venting system affects your fireplace's performance.
Direct-vent fireplaces operate as sealed systems, drawing air in and exhausting it outside. It’s one of the reasons they’ve become the standard in modern construction.
We’ve watched this shift happen over time. As homes have become more efficient, the need for controlled, sealed systems has only grown.
Behind every clean flame is a system designed to work reliably within the structure of the home.
Some are built to blend in. Others are designed to stand out.
Napoleon tends to lean toward that second category. Clean lines, strong flame presence, and a range of styles that work especially well in more modern spaces.
It’s the kind of fireplace people notice right away, but more importantly, it holds up over time. The look doesn’t feel dated a few years down the road.
That balance between design and longevity is what makes the difference.
Over the years, we’ve seen what happens when scale and placement are treated as an afterthought. A fireplace that’s too small disappears. One that’s too large takes over the room.
When it’s designed correctly, the balance feels natural. The room organizes itself around the fire without forcing it.
That kind of outcome doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from understanding how homes are actually lived in.
We work with builders and designers. Find out more at fairviewhearthside.com
There is a reason fireplaces have remained part of homes for centuries.
Fire has a way of slowing a room down.
Conversations last longer. People stay a little later. The space feels warmer, even before the heat reaches the room.
A well-designed fireplace becomes more than an appliance.
It becomes the place where people gather.
This fireplace is the Majestic Marquis II. See it and more in our Poughkeepsie Showroom.
Installing a fireplace involves far more than placing a unit into a wall.
Clearances must be precise. Venting must be planned carefully. Gas lines, framing, and finishing materials all need to work together safely and correctly.
Much of the most important work happens behind the wall where homeowners never see it.
But that hidden work is what ensures a fireplace performs well for years to come.
Fireplaces become the focal point of a room.
But that rarely happens by accident.
The size of the fireplace, the materials surrounding it, and where it sits within the room all influence how the space feels. When those elements are carefully planned, the entire room naturally organizes itself around the fire.
Designing a fireplace is part engineering, part craftsmanship, and part understanding how people live in their homes.
Done correctly, it becomes the place everyone gathers.
As the weather begins to shift, many homeowners stop using their fireplaces until fall returns.
Spring is actually one of the best times of year to schedule maintenance.
Chimneys, vents, and fireplace components benefit from inspection and cleaning before months of sitting unused. Addressing small issues now helps ensure everything is ready to operate safely when colder weather returns.
A fireplace should work reliably the moment you need it.
Routine maintenance helps make sure it does.
We’ve been doing this long enough to know what performs.
Gas. Wood. Electric. Vented. Vent-free. Direct vent. Linear. Portrait.
We work with brands like Heat & Glo, Valor, Majestic, Town & Country, Ortal, Montigo, European Home, Flare, Spark, SOLAS, DaVinci, Focus Fires, Isokern, Napoleon, Simplifire, British Fires and more because quality matters long after install day.
And when something needs service?
We’re here. Local. Responsive. Invested.
Not a warehouse. Not a website.
A partner you can call.
Direct vent fireplaces do not use indoor air to burn.
Instead, they operate as a sealed system behind glass.
They:
• Pull combustion air from outside
• Exhaust directly outside
• Maintain indoor air quality
• Keep the flame contained within the firebox
That’s why direct vent systems have become the gold standard for gas fireplaces in modern construction.
The fireplace shown here is the Majestic Mercury Direct Vent Gas Fireplace, a contemporary design that combines the efficiency of a sealed direct vent system with a wide viewing area that allows the flame to become part of the room’s design.
If you’re building or remodeling, this type of fireplace is often the starting point for planning the space.
Questions about vent routing or installation options? We’re always happy to review plans.
Fireplaces are one part of the story.
The surround is what makes it architecture.
Through our cast stone division, we create custom surrounds that feel carved into the design, not added on later. Clean, traditional, modern, monumental. Honed. Natural. Timeless.
The fireplace featured here is the SÓLAS TWENTY6, a modern wall-mount direct-vent gas fireplace known for its clean installation and striking flame picture. The reflective porcelain enamel firebox liner amplifies the flame, allowing the fire itself to become part of the design.
When flame and stone are considered together, the result feels intentional.
That’s where experience matters.
Would you design a fireplace as the focal point of your room, or let it blend quietly into the architecture?
A fireplace and a little Irish luck have something in common.
Both bring people together.
There is something timeless about gathering around a fire. Stories get shared, laughter gets louder, and the room feels warmer in more ways than one.
The fireplace shown here is a Town & Country TC36 See-Thru, a design that allows the flame to be enjoyed from two rooms at once. It becomes a shared focal point, connecting spaces and drawing people naturally toward the fire.
On a day known for celebration and good company, we’re reminded why fireplaces have always been part of the heart of a home.
Wishing you all had a warm and happy St. Patrick’s Day.
Since 1929. Right here in the Hudson Valley.
We’ve watched neighborhoods grow from farmland to floorplans.
We’ve worked alongside builders who became lifelong friends.
We’ve seen fireplaces shift from simple wood stoves to architectural centerpieces.
What hasn’t changed?
Our belief that every home deserves a hearth designed with intention.
Fairview Hearthside is still family-owned. Still relationship-driven. Still here to help you get it right the first time.
Nearly 100 years in and we’re just getting started.
Not all electric fireplaces are created equal.
Adam came to us after comparing big-box and online options. What mattered most in the end wasn’t just the product, it was how the project was handled.
Coordination. Installation. Follow-through.
As he shared in his review, we came back “no questions asked” to address the small details. That’s how projects stay on track and relationships last.
Thank you, Adam, for the kind words about Paul, Andre, and our team.
Quality products matter. So does how they’re installed.
Read the full review: We had a great experience with Fairview Hearthside. We decided to go with an electric fireplace for a few different reasons and we looked on Amazon where they sell very cheap options Fairview only carries high-quality brands. They definitely cost a little more, but in my opinion, it was worth it. Their customer service was EXCELLENT. They came back no questions asked to address any and all minor details. The owner Paul is SUPER responsive and the technician Andre that did the installation was great. Highly recommend this company. - Adam
Choosing a fireplace? Start here:
Wood: Highest authenticity. Requires chimney + maintenance. Strong design presence.
Gas (Direct Vent): High efficiency. Controlled heat. Clean burn. Most common in new builds.
Electric: No venting. Flexible placement. Ideal for tight spaces or evolving codes.
There is no “best.”
There is only best for the project.
We help you decide based on layout, budget, and long-term use.
A fireplace can be beautiful.
A cast stone surround makes it architectural.
Our Fairview Cast Stone surrounds are made to order, designed to frame the fire with proportion, weight, and permanence. Clean lines or detailed profiles. Honed finishes or natural texture. Scaled to the room, not pulled off a shelf.
When the surround is right, the entire space feels intentional.
Fire deserves a proper frame.
We don’t just sell fireplaces.
We collaborate early.
We review plans.
We talk through venting paths, framing specs, clearances, finish materials.
From Majestic and Heat & Glo to Town & Country, Ortal, Element4, and European Home, we help you select the right product for the right build.
Because your reputation is on the line.
And we take that seriously.
Let’s design it properly from day one.
Fireplace placement isn’t aesthetic first. It’s structural first.
Before you frame:
• Confirm vent path and termination location
• Review clearance to combustibles
• Coordinate with HVAC returns
• Plan electrical access (even for gas units)
Moving a fireplace late in the build is expensive.
Planning it early is smart.
Bring us in before drywall.

There’s something special about a fireplace you can see from two rooms.
The Heatilator Crave See-Through isn’t about flash. It’s about connection, linking a living room and dining space, a primary suite and bath, or two gathering areas with one shared focal point.
Direct vent keeps it efficient and sealed. Battery backup means it still runs when the power doesn’t. IntelliFire Touch makes daily use simple.
For builders and designers, it’s a practical way to create flow without adding complexity.
Sometimes one well-placed fire does more than two walls ever could.
There’s something about an open hearth that can’t be replicated.
The Ashland wood-burning fireplace by Majestic brings back that true, uninterrupted fire experience. No glass. No screen breaking up the view. Just the full presence of flame anchoring the room.
Available in three sizes, Ashland gives you flexibility in scale while keeping the look clean and architectural. The deep firebox creates a commanding focal point, ideal for great rooms and spaces designed to gather. For clients who love the look but want added convenience, compatible gas log sets offer another way to enjoy the fire.
When a home calls for something substantial, something timeless, something that feels rooted, Ashland answers beautifully.

Fireplaces aren’t an afterthought, they’re an invitation. To slow down, gather in, and enjoy the place you’ve built.
To all the homeowners (and those still dreaming): we’re honored to be part of the story.

Where function meets finesse.
Heatilator fireplaces are known for dependable performance but also for sleek, versatile designs that blend beautifully into any room. This is the Heatilator Heirloom, featured here, has the largest viewing area in its class of fireplaces, textured brick, and high-efficiency performance.
Need guidance choosing a fireplace that performs as good as it looks? We’ve been doing this since 1929. Let’s talk.
What’s your fireplace personality?
Now that winter is here, we have to know… Are you a:
🛋️ “Fireplace Lounger” – wrapped in a blanket, cocoa in hand, not moving for hours?
🍷 “Host with the Most” – lighting the fire for friends, food, and festivities?
🛠️ “Upgrade Seeker” – researching mantels, inserts, or custom fireplaces every night?
🐶 “Pet Cuddler” – your dog or cat gets prime fireplace real estate… and you let them?
Tell us in the comments. Bonus points if you drop a pic of your fireplace setup.
We love seeing how our installs come to life in your home.
Wood-burning. Gas. Electric. There’s no wrong answer, just the right one for the build.
Wood offers ambience and tradition.
Gas gives convenience and clean burn.
Electric brings flexibility and modern features.
We help you weigh lifestyle, code, layout, and finish to make the perfect match every time.

The holidays come alive around a hearth.
That’s not nostalgia, it’s neuroscience.
Warmth, firelight, and even the sound of a crackling flame cue the brain to settle in and connect.
If you’re designing a home meant to gather generations, a well-placed fireplace is more than aesthetic, it’s emotional architecture.

Not all electric fireplaces are created equal.
When Adam came to us, he’d already seen the cheap Amazon options, but he knew that wasn’t what he wanted for his home. He chose Fairview Hearthside because we carry only high-quality, builder-grade brands. And we’re proud to say our service matched the product.
From Paul’s hands-on project guidance to Andre’s expert installation, our team made sure every detail was flawless and followed up to make sure it stayed that way.
We’re grateful for the kind words, Adam. Reviews like this speak to what we care most about: doing things right and building long-term trust.
If you’re exploring electric fireplaces, whether for a new build or a client project, let’s talk about options that look beautiful and last.

The logs may not burn, but they still make the fire feel real.
Our curated log sets are selected for both realism and aesthetics with aged birch, split oak, black char, and more. They’re sculpte, styled, and hand-painted to fit the tone of your space.
Let’s get the look just right, like the Charred Mountain Birch logs featured here.

This is the Valor Portrait Direct Vent Fireplace.
Nearly a century ago, we lit our first fire.
And not just in hearths, but in homes, in hearts, and in the relationships we’ve built ever since.
Fairview Hearthside has been family-run since 1929. We’ve seen trends come and go, building codes evolve, and entire neighborhoods rise from blueprints.
Through it all, one thing’s stayed the same - the belief that every home deserves a safe, beautiful center. A place to gather, to reflect, to warm up and wind down.
Thanks for continuing to build with us.
