What is vent free all about?
Vent-free gas products are gas appliances that are designed to be installed and operated without the addition of a vent or chimney. They are intended to provide supplemental heat to a home. Because there is no vent, flue, or chimney required, all of the heat generated by the product goes directly into the home. That’s why vent-free products are 99 percent energy efficient.

Why choose vent free?
Two Words: Efficiency and Ease. Vented units lose a significant amount of the warm air they produce up their chimneys, but vent free fireplaces are entirely self-contained, allowing all of the heat to remain inside the home. Vent Free units can be installed in virtually any room in your home, when piping and chimneys are not a consideration, installaition becomes very simple and stress free.

Vent Free Fireplaces
Vent Free fireplaces are a vent-free box with a factory installed vent-free burner and logs. Installation of a vent free fireplace simply involves setting it in place in wood framing and hooking up the natural gas or liquid propane line to the unit. They can be installed in new construction or in existing construction. Vent Free fireplaces can be hooked up to a remote control, thermostatic remote control, or traditional wall thermostat.

Vent Free Stoves
Vent Free stoves are an excellent source of supplemental heat and can be installed just about anywhere in your home. Vent Free stoves can be installed right on hardwood flooring, but never on carpeting. Just run the gas line to the location where you want the stove and you’re ready for heat.

Vent Free Fireboxes
Vent Free fireboxes are produced specifically designed and approved for vent-free log sets. Vent Free fireboxes are made from layers of steel, non-combustible insulation, and a masonry lined interior to create the authentic fireplace experience.

Vent-Free Log Sets-
Vent free log sets can be used in pre-existing masonry fireplaces, pre fabricated wood burning fireplaces, or in approved vent-free fireboxes. Vent free log sets can serve an excellent supplemental heat source. All you will need is a gas line run into the fireplace and you’re ready to go. Vent free log sets can be run with open damper or closed damper

Don’t be scared of vent free
Vent free appliances are created to burn clean and work with 99% efficiency. All vent-free appliances have an Oxygen Detection Safety-Pilot CODS) system that reacts to a decrease in a room’s oxygen supply in a manner that shuts off the gas supply to the appliance. The gas pilot burns normally when it is exposed to normal air (22- 22.5 percent oxygen). In the rare case when the oxygen level in a room starts to drop to an 18- 18.5 percent level, the pilot flame lifts off of the thermocouple, which causes the gas valve to close. In other words, it shuts off the gas supply and “fails safe.” This unit was introduced to the U.S. in 1980 – 1981. All ANSI certified vent-free gas products incorporate an ODS. Based upon data available from manufacturers of the ODS, manufacturers of vent-free gas appliances and data available via legal data bases, there are no documented deaths associated with emissions from vent-free gas products that incorporate an ODS. This data covers a 20 year history during which more than eight million units were sold in the U.S.
